Influencers Arrested for Online Raffle Fraud and Drug Possession in Manaus
Two influencers suspected of defrauding online raffle sales in Manaus have had their imprisonment upheld by the Amazonas Court of Justice. However, a woman who was also arrested during the operation has been released.
The trio was apprehended on Thursday (June 29) during an operation conducted by the Amazonas Civil Police. According to the agents, the influencers promoted cars and motorcycles through social media giveaways, but the winners turned out to be acquaintances of the suspects who would eventually return the vehicles.
Approximately 170 units of the synthetic drug LSD, as well as rifle ammunition, were discovered in the residence of one of the influencers.
In her ruling, Judge Aline Lins stated that there was evidence of the crime’s existence and sufficient indications of the suspects’ involvement, along with the potential danger posed to public order by their freedom.
Consequently, the judge converted the duo’s initial arrest into pretrial detention, which does not have a specified duration but must be reassessed by the judge overseeing the case against the two individuals.
Meanwhile, a woman who was also apprehended during the operation has been granted provisional release. However, she is prohibited from changing her address or leaving Manaus without judicial authorization.
